Lately I’ve lacked motivation for anything other than Netflix and a good book. I look around and see projects and ideas to tackle, but nope doesn’t seem to be happening. It could be the end of winter with spring days and then back to freezing in the same week. A taste of spring! Oh no back to -20 with the wind chill. Oh yeah it is still March.
Knowing myself I need a push. A commitment to something. I do great in November during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWri) as it is a commitment to write. Don’t stop, overthink, just write. So I’ve decided to set goals for the next 30 days or the month of April. Plan is to write them down and have them posted in my face. It is also NaNoWri Camp if you need encouragement for writing goals in April. This is a commitment for me. Also posting about it gives me some accountability.
I’m going to be realistic with my goals. I’m thinking five in a variety of things I want to accomplished. Writing a specific amount will take all month to complete. Other goals a few hours – just making the time to sit. I’m also putting connect with a friend I haven’t seen for a while as a goal. Pandemic has so hampered getting together face-to-face but at the moment it is doable.
I’m looking around my place. Projects started. Supplies purchased. What do I want off my plate by the end of April? What do I want to start and see where it goes? What idea do I want out of my head and onto the screen?
I’m actually excited about the possibilities. I work better with a plan of attack. It is just making it and committing to it. So I have a plan for April. Goals for the next 30 days. I want 2021 to count for something. To know I completed a few things and am moving forward.
If you have been unmotivated join me. Sit down and write 3 to 5 items you’d like to see completed or maybe started in April. Write them out and post them on your desk or where you can see them daily. Don’t write down too many – you might think oh I can get this stuff down but it can be unmotivating to have too much on your plate. Start with 3-5 and if you get them completed in the first week or two add a few more. We want our goals to be doable and motivate us. Also give yourself a variety of goals. Maybe something that might take all month, along with something you can do in a day. Purging anyone?
