I’m setting an intention for the next four months. This post will give you the background. of where I ‘m coming from and how this came up. Summary I’m more focused when I have a list, schedule and a deadline.
I choose schedule as my intention (word) for the next four months. I want to end 2020 strong. To have accomplished a few projects. I figure by setting schedule as my intention it makes it real, gives me focus and a deadline.
My deadline is October 31 to finish editing/revising a novel that has been sitting in my documents for longer then I care to admit . I want to participate in National Novel Writing Month in November so want these edits completed by them. It feels good to have a deadline as I have to break it down into X many pages a day. Doable.
Breaking a larger project down makes it more manageable. I’m not editing a novel. I ‘m editing 3-5 pages a day. That seems doable. It is a concrete number. Some days I might edit more and others less but by the end of the week it should even out.
I have been focusing on my intention the past week and it is working. I have the card (above) on my desk where I can see. It is great reminder of what my intention is for the next four months. Have to say I’m liking breaking the year down into four month sessions. A new intention each quarter. This allows me to me to shake the year up and focus on what I need to do each quarter.
So schedule is my intention until December 31. I feel good about it. This has been sitting in documents for a while now. This won’t be the final run through but it will move it forward and that is what it is all about.
Did you make an intention for the next four months? Please share and let me know if I can help in any way. Check in? Shout out on Instagram? Create a challenge for a week? We are all in this together.
You can always start now!
Best wishes for your planned endevours. Keep shinning.

I need to finish my novel draft by the end of the year, not for any external deadlines but for me. I really like it so far and am anxious to get it into beta readers hands!

Like post said for me setting a deadline and breaking it down. Start with you want to write X many words by the end of October. That way you are giving yourself enough time for days you can’t sit down and write and day you are rocking it. Keep me posted. Are you interested in doing National Novel Writing Month this year?

I always WANT to do NaNoWriMo, but November is such a busy month, with my little guys’ birthday and Thanksgiving (and Xmas prep). I will keep you posted–maybe with us not going anywhere, this year, I’ll get more writing in!

Sharing this with a friend and writing partner. I had hoped to have a chapter complete last week, but life has intervened and work commitments for the next 30 days really piled on. But there is some wisdom here. Much. I pushed my date to complete the chapter to the end of the month, will spill over to the first week in October if necessary, but want to get it finished, so I can start on my next chapter.

I think setting deadlines is great but also being gentle with ourselves when life intervenes. We will get there. Flexibility is part of it and just rescheduling and doing the work when we can. Keep me posted. I have had a good week overall. Trying to edit at least three pages a night (again missed a few). This weekend going to play catch up as nothing much planned. Take care and write-on.

Yes. You Too, important wisdom in being gentle with ourselves. Thank you for those encouraging words.

My goal I have set for myself would be to get at least 2 or 3 posts updated with my new format and then to create additional pins and a recipe card per post. I have tons of posts so this will take a while, but I need to start somewhere, and have already done a handful. Let’s keep each other accountable

That is a good goal and I think having a specific number helps. Do you have a deadline? 2-3 updated posts by XXXX?
