Blog Battle – Cave

This is the second time I have taken the challenge and done Blog Battle.  See below for the rules and the link to were the battle takes place!

This was crazy. No beyond crazy. There was no way this part of the initiation had been approved by the council. It had to be Alan’s way to weed out who he thought was undesirable. As if he had the right to decide who got in and who didn’t.

Liz had no problem racing through the exam and was out the door before anyone else.  The map that appeared on her screen didn’t look too daunting at first glance, but now she was thinking she might have made a wrong turn.  She would have retraced her steps if not for Alan’s remark when she left the arena.

Hope you are not afraid of the dark he had said. Well dark was what she was facing. The small opening in front of her looked like a cave entrance. Liz looked at the map again and visually retraced her steps. She didn’t see another route she could have taken. As far as she could see this is where she was supposed to be.

She knew if she stood here much longer the others would catch up to her. The spots on the junior counsel were coveted. Liz had to obtain one for her plan to proceed. She took a breath and headed for the cave opening.

Captured that excitement and trepidation when facing a challenge too. This one could certainly follow in the next prompt too…given Liz races through an exam…. ooh spoilers, mustn’t reveal the word early 😂

Ha, ha…I’ve already got the next pronlg scheduled to go live. Next month I need to get it shared better too. Try and keep it in peoples minds.

I’ve been dipping in and out of the same backstory with prompts ever since the A to Z too. It’s generated around 40k words. Definitely a good way to wander about your writing and testing ideas. Sunday is going well too thanks…rather enjoyed being amongst the bloggers again too.

Incredible. 40K is a lot to wander around and see what is working and not. Glad to have you back amongst us. Such a great supportive group of people (sunday bloggers!!). Looking forward to November 1 for blog battle!!!

Whole year has been hard to wrap my head round! It’s just whizzed past. Well, it did once the winter ended! You’re right about the Sunday Bloggers too. Quite an amazing bunch!!

Drat, I thought I’d replied to this! 40k just makes my world bigger lol. More complicated too. The next prompt goes live first Wednesday of the month and I duplicate it on my blog the Thursday after. In fact both are scheduled to go so bring it on!!

Same to you too! NaNo soon flips away if you’re not careful. I’ve not started, but then I’m being realistic. I don’t think I’m in the right zone this time round!

Started NaNo on Saturday so felt behind the eight ball already. Had a really good weekend and it flowed. So happy. So will see what the week brings. You are right you have to be in the right head space as it is a big commitment.

Go you 😊I’m sure you can do it providing reality is kind and doesn’t throw in any curve balls. Besides, if you don’t finish then I can threaten you with April’s Camp NaNo to complete it lol. I may do that as I’ve a couple of projects that need sorting. I decided (finally) I cant do NaNo this year. I’ve got a short story about to be published in an anthology that’s due out this month so I’m distracted by getting things ready for that!! Scary times!

Good show Amelia. There’s an invite in this months BlogBattle too to NaNo writers if they want to share an excerpt. Just need to insert the prompt word somewhere and all good to go. Looking forward to linking up in the same Cabin too 😊

Amelia – great story! I want to know what happens after Liz entered that cave. I’ve never done fictional writing (well, except for when I was in elementary school), and would love to give it a try. I’ll have to look into doing a Blog Battle or two. 🙂 Loved this post of yours!

Yes it was fun as 1000 word max so nothing major. I’m looking forward to November’s prompt and seeing if there might be a continuation there. Also November is National Novel Writing month you might want to check out!
