Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Call

That time of the week for Stream of Consciousness Saturday. Check out Linda G Hill for all the details and other writing prompts. Fast summary just write. Afterall it is a stream of consciousness.

This prompt was easy as I’m off today making what used to be “calls” but now are texting and emailing.  My sister is here on vacation so we are making plans. Just “called” our niece to see if she is around and also a friend.  I never heard a voice during the “calls” but my fingers were flying.

It is funny that we now have conversations without hearing a voice. Using our fingers and thumbs to quickly message our needs and wants.  Are we losing something? A social skill? I’m not sure but would love to hear your thoughts.

You can always start now!

Great take on call. I’ve seen phones change from sitting in the coldest room in a house wired to a socket into mobile computers. Pitch against those blasted “Your call is important to us” helplines where the only call they answer is new customers subscribing there’s little wonder we move into text zones lol. Mind you it’s a fascinating evolution in society. My local landlady was buried in her phone so I texted her from the bar et voila, a pint of ale appeared 😂😂

So true how it has evolved (not maybe not!!). What gets me is X many people in a room and all on their phones texting (or reading) someone else. Not talking to the person in front of them. Reason I’m liking the quiet I have heard. Hmm…..

The tech evolved in my opinion, the side effect is devolving evolution in society. It’s giving virtual worlds a better place to be than reality. Imagine if it were fully rendered holographic interfaces. Maybe the Matrix was not so sci-fi after all lol

Seriously. Have nephew visiting and one of his choices was a virtual reality game. Full face-mask. I also think we use our imaginations less. Why do you have to when everything is taking care of and in your face! I think I might be starting to rant!!

Lol, join the club. I rant quite often on a great many issues where the modern world has gone totally mad. I even thought of a tag for prompts…SoapBoxSaturday. Might be one fir us 😂

I think it would generate potentially huge comments both for and against the topic. Could be totally hilarious and sending raw messages about anything that annoys the creator. I often rant on posts that I agree with if the scope is there. It’s why I thought it might be worth a try! You up for it lol

OMG The possibilities of anything from entitlement to the color “salmon”. It is worth considering – one of those free blogs and just going for it. Nothing that requires too much work. Mulling it over. YOU STARTED SOMETHING!! lol

Don’t get me on salmon…building dams and not giving them a migration route past it… lol. Do you think it could run off a separate blog then? Couple of admins maybe to see where it goes?

I’ve been mulling things over. I think it boils down to time. Time to do admin on a separate blog? Or have a rant off current blogs? That is hard as not sure appropriate for current (positive!!) blogs. If just a fun thing with no expectations except write a name.wordpress.com blog is easy as free. Would be somewhere to capture other ideas interested in. Hmmm……

I know the feeling! If it started on current blogs then grew somewhat that might be an indicator to run it off a dedicated page or free blog as you say. Sometimes rants can be funny and although often focussed on silly things reality seems full of, they could end with a positive quote maybe? I’m sure there’s a place required for a good old rant or two!

I will have to look around and see what is out their blog wise for a good rant. Yes to end with something positive a quote or another way to look at it. Always something to think about!!

I hate talking on the phone. Hate may not even be the right word. Even making a simple phone call causes me a good bit of anxiety. So texting is a lot easier for me.

I can relate to that also. Once I get home I don’t want to talk on the phone – being an introvert I just want quiet (so not really texting) either. I think the thing that really gets me is when you are with someone and they are texting not talking to the person in front of them. I see it in coffee shops and around town. People sitting at the same table and texting.

I was just over for a visit! Thank you for linking to me. I think people are supportive we just have to put the call out. So glad you did and you had positive responses. Maybe you’ll do SoCS next week!
