Feeding my soul – crafts

A while ago I had a moment when I realized I had to pull myself up. This journey I’m on has it ups and down (who’s doesn’t!).  But that day I was having a particularly spiralling down moment.  I recognised I needed more coping techniques to stop, breathe and carry on.

When I was out walking I thought “what feeds my soul”? At that moment I knew I had to blog about it.  One of the things that feeds my soul is crafting. You are creating something and the biggest decision is often what colour washi tape to use. I used the silver/blue on by the way.

Sitting here I find I can get into a flow flipping through papers, looking at stamps and thinking about designs. I don’t worry about being perfect. I just want to enjoy the process.  At the end I had a pretty holiday card and a new page in my Smashbook.  Looking at both made me happy and fed my soul.

Start noticing what feeds your soul. What brings you joy? Calms you down? Maybe it is petting your cat or cooking a meal. Tap into it and breathe. We need this more than ever.  Let me know what feeds your soul.

You can always start now!

“I don’t worry about being perfect. I just want to enjoy the process.” Definitely this! I was working with my son on writing yesterday and he wouldn’t start because he didn’t have the perfect sentence yet and I had to tell him to just write and it will come. Just starting the process and getting your mind flowing is the best part about crafting. And, it’s super fun!

Total agree. I think perfectionism is often a killer for creativity. Didn’t Elizabeth Gilbert or someone write that? Starting is often the hardest part. Once you’re at the table things often start to flow. Just start. Plus remember &*($@ first drafts are more than okay!!

I totally agree with you about finding things that feed our soul. It what makes the difference between a day and a great day isnt it. I would love to be more clever with craft, my Mum is amazing but I am clumsy and messy. I aim to try to learn a new craft this year, just not decided what!

I craft almost everyday. At the moment I have a cross stitch on the go, but I also like to crochet, draw and colour. It definitely feeds the soul, and makes you focus on something different for a while.

Agree. Love just creating. Went to adult fundraiser earlier in the week on paper and collage. Table of woman just cutting, ripping and gluing all in the moment and enjoying the process.

Yes – Crafting is a positive thing to do!.. I have to be in the right “mood” and then there is no stopping me. So I do try an allot a day for when that feeling is coming on. Oh – I work on decorating my Bullet Journal or doing handcrafted cards 🙂

There is something about working with your hands. I hope to handcraft some cards later today. Cold Sunday here so good day to stay home and curled up! Thanks for stopping by.
